Q3 Update

Hello there! It's really hard to believe that in some areas school is already back in session and that summer is giving way to fall. This must mean that it's time for our Q3 update! Earlier in the year, I laid out our 2020 roadmap , then the Q3/Q4 priorities. Now, I'd like to update you on Holiday progress, emerging issues, and our core areas of focus:

  • Privacy, Compliance & Fraud Reduction - ENABLING BUYER TRUST
  • Seller Value Creation & Community
  • Traffic Generation & Site Speed

Progress we're making -

Privacy, Compliance & Fraud Reduction - ENABLING BUYER TRUST

  • Created a Compliance Dashboard, which greatly reduces the time to identify and act on bad sellers
  • Streamlining IP Infringement Reporting Process
  • Work to improve suspension messaging
  • BBB and TrustPilot account monitoring & responsiveness
  • Tracking and improving Buyer Customer Support experiences

Creating Seller Value:

  • Evaluate and deploy shipping label alternatives to limit seller business disruption during the holidays
  • Offer return labels and Canadian / international shipping label options
  • Launch additional payment methods to give our sellers and buyers more choices
  • You've provided feedback that our current billing schedule can be difficult to work into a budget and may impact seller cash flow. We are working to convert our monthly billing cycle to a point-of-sale arrangement. Our goal is to simplify your Final Value Fees and billing statement and to reduce credit card charges. We'll soon be collecting FVF upon the sale of goods.
  • Preparations completed for a Black Friday and Cyber Monday like never before!
  • Continue to improve the eBay Importer inventory sync process

Traffic Generation & Site Speed

  • Reboot our Affiliates Program & Tools
  • Optimize our Search Engine bids, methodology & site usage
  • Increase Search spend budget and scope
  • Launch new Bonanza marketplace branding & marketing initiatives
  • SMS & MMS Buyer and Seller Marketing trial
  • Launch iHeartRadio tests (FL, TX & CA)
  • Continue with our YouTube video series
  • Increased Blog messaging

    What I liked about Bonanza is that there are no threatening dashboards which collect various types of defects or complaints and can cause an account to get suspended.

    I am hoping that this site will not become an Amazon-like survival game where anything can get you suspended.

    Regarding fraud-detection, keep in mind that most countries outside the USA have untracked postage as their way of shipping items and just because the seller doesn’t have tracking doesn’t necessarily indicate lack of fulfillment.

    My suggestion would be to allow international sellers to set custom estimated delivery timeframes as otherwise the US-based buyers are expecting their items in a week and it’s difficult to tell them that it may take 1-2 months.

    Thank you AngelicPreety, I agree with you that not having a tracking number doesn’t indicate a lack of fulfillment. What we want to change is the lack of communication post order acceptance – having a valid tracking number is the best way to communicate order progress. We’re not here to threaten, we’re here to create better processes, practices and tools that increase your sales. We do have a duty to continue to identify “bad actors,” which we must do. But those who we know well, through their history with us – we will assist and communicate every way we can to help you improve.

    Question, Offer return labels and Canadian / international shipping label options, is this going to be a separate function, or would we have to use Bonanza’s shipping in order to use that feature. Just to clarify, I’m referring to the return labels, not the Canadian/International option.

    Great question tegger! Our first task is to offer return labels for US shipments. We also want to provide some international shipping options. My apologies that wasn’t clear. I would recommend using the same service for labels and returns to ensure clarity…whether it be our services or other.

    Great comment. Label printer can be used, it just takes some “fiddling” with the browser printer settings to fit to the thermal label or whatever label that is being used. We are looking into making it easier for sellers to be able to print to their particular label.

    How will USING REWARDS POINT ‘work’ if Bonanza is collecting Fees @ Point Of Sale ? Usually, we can get a Bill Reduction w/ the Points.

    This is disappointing. If Bonanza takes its final value fee upfront, the seller no longer has use of that money until it is time to pay the bill.

    That is the definition of negatively impacting seller cash flow.

    Woo hoo…radio advertising!! I hope that gets the Bonanza name out there and expands our customer base.

    Not sure how I feel about the point of sale FVF payment. I like having one grand total taken monthly. How will it effect partial refunds and requesting a FVF adjustment?
