Preparations for Black Friday and Cyber Monday

It's hard to believe that we are less than 3 weeks away from Cyber Monday and Black Friday. We have already noticed a steady bump in traffic and sales so all hands on deck! In keeping with tradition, we would like to announce that we are changing our search algorithm. Ha! Just kidding...I crack myself up! Actually we have been spending quality time the past 2 weeks tending to bugs and improvements on Bonanza, so your buyers (and our sellers) will have the best experience possible.
The following list is only a summary of recently completed tasks:
- Make eBay importer smarter for shipping, traits, and categories. Our importers are getting full programmer love because importing your listings properly will mean less work for you and a more accurate buying experience
- Make our category guesser and price guesser wicked smart
- Improve our background burner
- Enhance our CSV Importer
- Speed up and enhance search results page. Make search smarter about number queries
- Make it so that favorite booths are removed from your profile page when the favorite booth no longer exists
- Take multiple passes at shopping cart to ensure we are offering the most trouble free cart experience (also decreased checkout steps for buyers using PayPal)
- Add additional cart monitoring so we can catch any issues promptly
- Add buyer city and zip code to offer emails so sellers can make informed decisions to accept an offer from the email versus having to log in to find the buyers location
- Allow editing of shipment tracking numbers without affecting the shipped on date
- Fix the "Distance to you" to show actual distance versus "Unknown" location
- Create UK Google Shopping feed
- Fix the ability for sellers to reactivate suspended Google Shopping feeds
- Add a Google Shopping Diagnostics link on the My Bonanza > Booth Details page
- Make it so sellers that are on vacation cannot be a featured seller
Some of the projects we are currently working on and plan to complete shortly:
- Continue to investigate additional channels to advertise Bonanza's unique inventory
- Complete the ongoing system upgrade (nerdfest, behind the scenes)
- Add coupons to the home page
- Speed up eBay and CSV importers
- Optimize the editing of traits for all filtered items (bulk editing optimization)
- Allow sellers to customize their booth vacation message
- Fix spell check on our WYSIWYG editor (this is the editor you use to edit your listings)
- Continue to enhance mobile shopping experience
- Research the adding of auto-digital downloads
- Continue working on the adding of Pinterest rich pin
As a seller you no doubt have a bunch of tasks that you have been working on in preparation for the holiday shopping season. If you are looking for a few tips, we would suggest the following:
- Review your listing shipping details and return polices. Make it easy for buyers to make an informed buying decision from you
- Review your buyer restriction policies, you could be inadvertently leaving sales on the table ("Sell on Bonanza > Edit booth options > Payments & Purchases)
- Review your advertising settings to make sure you are at the desired level of advertising ("Sell on Bonanza > Advertise Items")
-
Here is a page that will also help you zero in on additional sales opportunities
May you have much success this holiday season and beyond!

No wonder you all have been so quiet. Impressive list!

“Create UK Google Shopping feed”
How do we get our listings to go in the UK Google Shopping feed?
I’ve just started adding international shipping for the UK. Most of my listings are not yet set for shipping to the UK though and after it is all said and done, I will not be offering every listing to be available to the UK. I’m also not setting up calculated or a flat rate and instead having it to where the UK buyer will see “item description” for details since this was an option under Update items as a group, Shipping.
Thanks.
Thanks for the opportunity. I am looking forward for the next Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I am hopping to put on more products and probably, hopefully get some sales. I guess the more items you have the more chance of sales.
Thanks
The UK Google Shopping feed is way cool! I love international buyers! Well done.
WOW – Super updates – you Bonz peeps have been busy, busy – thanks for the good work!
I just received a “New advertising Options” email. Everything i read on the email it looks like there will be a cost to me. One option shows facebook ads, with the lowest price of $99 a month….Another states I would have to join a “Titan membership” program? Not quite sure what this is, but a cost is involved? is that correct? Is there any advertising that does not include a cost? Just wondering as I am already in one of the higher cost programs already on bonz for advertising. Thanks.
It sounds like you are already utilizing the Bonanza advertising platform. The email you received is introducing additional advertising channels available on Bonanza. There are many advertising choices available to you, and all at different costs. You will need to research those that are the best fit for your business and the costs associated with them. Hope that helps. If not please contact us at [email protected] and we will do our best to assist.
How can I/we make sure our listings will show up in the UK Google shopping. Do I have to have a shipping amount applied to a listing that is available to the UK. If so, what if I do not have all of my listings set up to be available to the UK?
Thanks.
Bonanza formats your items to meet the UK feed guidelines. You should make sure that you offer shipping to that country and that your listings meet Google’s regular publishing guidelines.
Just read an email you sent about new advertising options. Each of us advertising our little stores seems like that would only go so far—wouldn’t it be smarter to just advertise the entire site on these sources? Raise the FVF’s by 1% and use the money for an all out ad plan.
Good point osaunt. The benefit of our advertising programs are that you can customize an advertising plan to meet your needs. Additionally the plan you select advertises your business and your business only. Bonanza does spend money on site wide advertisement too.
Thank you @osaunt! Alot of us feel that same way!!! I’m willing to pay a higher FVF for them to use that money for all out ad campaign! I can’t afford these memberships or advertising plans they’re coming up with. I’m glad someone can. Must be nice.
Please see above reply to osaunt. As for affording an advertising plan, Bonanza offers great advertising options that have zero upfront costs (you are only billed when you sell an item via that advertising channel). This way everyone can afford it
just added some coupons tonite ,already saw my booth on front page impressive,I gotta admit you do get a lot of help here.Im glad i joined hope to make this a great xmas and beyond.Good luck everyone !
Tonight I noticed that the spellchecker is working again. I had really missed having that. I always kept forgetting to go to the top of the listing editor to turn it on.
Since you brought up the subject of the background burner I’d like to see if it is possible to add a perk to it. Could you set it up to where we can name the photo like we do when we are uploading an image that is named from our own computer?
As it stands now, after burning the image, I save and exit out of the listing and I go to my burned images link from My Bonanza.
Then I download the image to my computer and I go under my downloads on my computer and give it a name. Then I go back to the listing here on Bonanza. Delete the image I burned. Then I upload the same image to my listing, only it has a name to make it more search engine friendly.
As you can see, this takes a lot of extra steps.
It would be really helpful.
Search algorithm change might be a good idea have not sold anything in months in my store. Guess I need to promote more.
I love the new welcome you get when you sign on to Bonanza! Looks great Guys!!! Keep up all the great work you’ve been doing!!!

How do I remove a favorite seller who is no longer selling?
The same process you took to add them as a favorite. We went ahead and took care of that for you
I get the Whoops you do not have permission to access error when I try to remove inactive sellers booths
That’s because you are special
If you can send the details to [email protected] then we will be sure to get that addressed.
sugar fixes a lot!
