Bonanza Affiliates Program Now Live

Another week, another megafeature launch at Bonanza. This is one we’ve been working on for several months now, based on the belief that it will (slowly) become our #1 or #2 source of buyer traffic.

What is it?

Judging by the title of this blog post, it is the Bonanza Affiliates Program!

Affiliate programs are not a new idea. eBay has one. Amazon has one, which is purported to drive up to 40% of their buyer traffic. The basic concept is that if you run a blog, reviews site, or some other web property that generates meaningful traffic, you can turn that traffic into revenue by joining an affiliate program. Ideally, ours.

What makes Bonanza’s Affiliate Program different?

We made a list. But in a nutshell: we pay about twice as much as the “web's most popular affiliate program" (Amazon). And unlike other affiliate programs, we pay the publisher not only in dollars, but in new subscribers to their blog or website.

I’m a Bonanza seller (or prospective seller). What does this mean for me?

More sales. That you don’t have to pay a dime for until we find buyers for you.

Much like our integrations with Google Shopping, Nextag, Pricegrabber, TheFind, and others, we don’t believe in charging you upfront to purchase clicks. It’s not clicks you’re after, it’s sales. So we let you choose how much you can afford when you make a sale, and we automatically optimize for your budget (we eat the cost until you make a sale).

In the case of affiliates, a minimum FVF of 9% is required. The higher the FVF, the more blog & website publishers we can get interested in your merchandise.

What does it take to become a Bonanza Affiliate?

A web property (blog, reviews site, ecommerce store, etc.) that potential Bonanza buyers visit. A Bonanza affiliate account application, which you can sign up for here. A link or widget that you post to said property. We take it from there, sending you payments for your buyers once monthly.

Sellers are welcome to sign up as affiliates, although you will not earn affiliate revenues for referrals to your own items (we'd recommend our free referral traffic promotion if you have a website you'd like to point at your Bonanza booth)

Fantastic! (I was going to say “AWESOME” and then I read your link about ‘new subscribers to their blog or website’ and I see you already used it…a lot! LOL.) This IS G-r-r-reat!

QUESTIONS:

1. Can I earn revenues by placing links to point buyers to Bonanza in twitter and other such places?

2. Is it really only a 48-hour window that you track new traffic from such links? Some ‘other’ places will pay folks for affiliate links, similar to this new program you’ve started, but they will track users referred to their site for a couple MONTHS…in case the person followed the link, came here, bookmarked the place and came back later and bought something. Then the person with the affiliate link still got credit for bringing that buyer to the site. Would you consider, and have the ability to increase the window which you give credit to those who help bring the site traffic?

3. Will you, Bonz staff, be seeking places to put such affiliate links online off-site?

Great questions.

1. The affiliate links can only come from a website that you specify when you sign up as an affiliate. (At least for now.)

2. We think 48 hours will be long enough to capture the large majority of serious referrals. Note that our 48-hour time windows is double the other top marketplaces – the other marketplaces only allow 24 hours.

3. Yes. We’re promoting the program in many ways, and we have staff dedicated to developing new affiliate partnerships.

Thank you for your thoughtful questions!

It’s at http://affiliates.bonanza.com.

(Sorry, I just noticed your comment, maybe you’ve found the dashboard by now!)
