Item description
1943 MATISSE Original Lithograph "Expression-2 1941" from the scarce "HOMMAGE Portfolio" No. 177 of Edition of 1000 ? printed in Monaco
Original 1943 lithograph ? Not a copy or a modern reprint
About the portfolio:
HOMMAGE ? We preferred this title to all others, because it best marks our intention to honor French thought and art in the personality of creators dedicated exclusively to their mission and to attest to their talent which appears to be alive and unaltered by beyond the turmoil of the world. We also wanted the printing of the first issue of this journal to be limited in order to offer bibliophiles a document worthy of their collections, both in terms of the quality of the printing media and the value of the works reproduced. ? R. L. MONACO, December 1943.
