This brooch features a man squatting down and panning for gold or silver in the desert surrounded by cactus plants. The highly detailed pin is accented with five (5) golden bronze rhinestones that represent the sun. This is a unique one-of-a-kind brooch that is a wearable piece of artwork. According to Wikipedia, the Comstock Lode was the first major discovery of silver ore in the United States and was named after the American miner Henry Comstock. The brooch measures approximately 1 ¾ inches wide and 1 ¼ inches tall. I have seen another one of his pieces that was signed on the back as being made of “pewter and clay”.

This unique brooch is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.

This would be the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys recreational gold panning as a hobby or belongs to a prospector club, such as the Comstock Gold Prospectors, the Gold Prospectors Association of America or the Nevada Mining Association. You will strike it rich with this special and unusual brooch, it is sure to be noticed and is a great conversation starter.
