Item description for Vintage Seagull Bird in Flight Carved Scrimshaw Pendant Necklace 1974

This is a simple and elegant scrimshaw pendant of a bird flying. The seagull is quite detailed for its small size. The pendant looks like etched bone, but I can’t be sure of the material it is made from, it could be a manmade composition. It has a slight pale yellow tone to it. It is signed on the back “Peterson 74”. The pendant measures approximately 2 inches tall and 1 ¾ inches wide. It has a small hole drilled at the top for adding it to a necklace. The attached silver tone metal necklace is 24 inches long.

This is in great vintage condition as you can see by the many enlarged photographs. There is some light reddish color on the edge of the pendant that appears to be a part of the material; you don’t see it without magnification. I have pointed it out with an arrow. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the condition better than I can describe.
