THE YELLOW FAIRY BOOK

by Andrew Lang

Longmans, Green, and Co., First Edition, 1894

Condition: Good Minus

This is the fourth of Andrew Lang's 12 classic "Fairy Books of Many Colors".  It contains about 50 original fairy tales; H. J. Ford's wonderful illustrations (22 full-page plates and more than 80 other illustrations) add significantly to Lang's text, which totals 321 pages, plus the  plates and 2 pages of publisher ads.  All gilt page edges.  Being an antiquarian children's book, it is very difficult to find in decent condition.  Externally, the spine at the front cover of this copy is split, but it is completely intact at the back cover.  The cover corners are quite worn, and the spine and indented fairy design on the front cover are faded.  Inside, there are a few gutter splits, but all are holding.  The saving grace of the books's condition is that it is whole and complete -- no loose or missing text or illustrated pages, a tear on just one page, some writing on another and some sporadic foxing on pages.  The book is somewhat shaken, but everything is here and intact.  It's a book worth having despite the condition.  Shipping and postal insurance are included with this title.
