This lovely vintage modernist soaring bird in flight brooch or pin is marked on the back "Hand Made Sterling”. It has very clean and flowing lines with wings fully extended, spread and curved gracefully and it is superbly artisan hand crafted from one solid piece of sterling silver. It has a very sophisticated appearance with it's modern Abstract styling and shape. I'm not sure of the type of bird it is meant to be, except that it has a pointed beak, long wings and tail feathers.

It measures just over 2 1/4 inches in length from the beak to the end of the tail and is 2 1/2 inches from the tip of the top wing to the bottom of the lower wing. It weighs .2 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 5.7 grams. This sterling bird is in very good, original and unpolished condition. It has a dark patina beginning to form, which I did not try to polish off. It has a secure safety clasp on the back.

This pin would make a perfect addition to your collection of vintage Sterling Silver Jewelry or a great gift for your favorite bird watcher. Nice gift for someone studying Ornithology in school. It would look great pinned on your favorite sweater, dress or jacket.
