This is an Egyptian Revival style brooch designed and signed by Susan L Richardson. It is dated 1994 on a cartouche on the back of the pin. Susan was born and raised in London, England and eventually moved to Atlanta and finally, Apalachicola, Florida. The beaches and the history of the coastal areas surrounding the Gulf of Mexico brought out her creativity and the urge to turn to painting. She was a jewelry designer/manufacturer created a line of art to wear jewelry designs; these pieces are becoming rare as she stopped creating jewelry in the 1990s. She turned to painting and has won many awards for her artwork; she had over 30 paintings in juried shows at the Atlanta Artists Center since 2010. In 2014 placed 2nd in Sarasota’s Art Center’s “Florida Flavors” juried exhibit. Her paintings are exhibited in several galleries throughout Georgia and Florida, including her own gallery in Apalachicola.

This stunning brooch depicts an Egyptian woman atop a textured and patterned brass metal piece. Dangling from the center are three detailed Egyptian Mummy or Sarcophagus charms and 4 crystal beads. The brooch measures approximately 2 inches by 1 5/8 inches with 1 ¼ drop dangles.

It is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. It has a lovely antiqued brass finish that gives it a nice patina. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.

Her brooches are fairly rare and this would make a wonderful addition to your collection of Egyptian Revival wearable art jewelry.
