Synopsis:
The drama is adapted from the 2001 novel "Fire In The Hole" by Elmore Leonard, telling the story of Raylan Givens (played by Timothy Olyphant), a US federal law enforcement officer who uses traditional methods to solve modern cases. The name 'Justified' has a certain religious meaning, referring to 'God freeing people from punishment associated with heinous crimes' in theology.
Raylan is a police officer with a strong Western cowboy flavor, always wearing a Stessen felt hat, cowboy boots, and a spare handgun in the cowhide holster on his butt. Unless absolutely necessary, he will not use a handgun - because once he pulls out the gun, the opponent must bleed. He believed that this was the function of a handgun: either not to use it, or to use it with one strike to kill it.
Raylan was born in a rural area of Kentucky and grew up in the small town of Harlan. There, he spent his youthful years. Playing ball, chasing girls, and digging coal were once his entire life. At the age of 19, he made up his mind to become a federal police officer and left his hometown resolutely. A few years later, he achieved his wish. Just as he was preparing to achieve great success, he was displeased by his superiors due to the "accidental incident" of shooting a gunman at a hotel in Miami. As a punishment for him, his boss sent him back to his hometown of Kentucky, where he had sworn never to go back again.
Nick Searcy plays Art Mullen, Deputy Chief of the Federal Police Department in Lexington, Kentucky, in the drama; Jacob Pitts plays Raylan's colleague Tim Gutterson; Erica Tazel plays Rachel Brooks, Raylan's colleague. Tracking fugitives, protecting witnesses, and transporting prisoners are their 'basic tasks'.
Returning to his hometown, Raylan had to face people he didn't want to see: his friend Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins), who used to dig coal together, is now a wanted bank robber; Ava Crowder (Joelle Carter), the cheerleader he had a crush on in high school and Boyd's sister; And his ex-wife Winona (Natalie Zea). However, Raylan's last objection was his father who made a living from crime, Arlo(Raymond Barry) 。
