Bakersfield Speedway is a 1/3 mile high-banked clay oval located near Oildale, California.


The track opened as a 1/4 mile dirt oval on May 5th, 1946 as Bakersfield Speed Bowl. Then changed to Thunder Bowl in 1948 and later that year in Sept. changed to Hawk Brothers Speedway.

The track has also operated as Oildale Speedway, Oil Bowl Speedway, Bakersfield Speedbowl, Bakersfield Thunder Bowl and Hawk Brothers Speedway.

The Bakersfield Speedway reverted to being a dirt oval in 1980, and was enlarged to a 1/3 mile dirt oval in 1992. It is still used today.

Pieces are missing on that back that allow it to stand it up on its own.
