This tree likes to live in full sun to partial shade where it can grow up to 50 feet high, but it will also survive in total shade. 
The fragrant white blossoms are on display from the middle of spring until early summer where they attract a wide variety of birds, bees, and butterflies.
 The fragrant white flowers are used to stuff pillows. The wood from this tree is hard and can take a beating, it is also highly valuable. 
The seeds are sometimes used to make necklaces but principally it is used to make an oil that has many such as perfume, and fuel but is mainly used as a cooking oil.
 The fruit is yellow when it is ripe and it can be eaten raw, preserved, or pickled. USDA Hardiness Zones 10 to 11.
