Holiday Cactus, Christmas Cactus, and Schlumbergera are tropical cactus endemic to Southeastern Brazil that thrive on rocks and trees in humid rainforests. They are most known for their colorful blooms, which bloom at the end of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, and even in April on occasion. People enjoy having them as houseplants or outside on their front porch or yard. Some can survive for more than fifty years if properly cared for.
