VERY SCARE Format-][ Word Processing System Kensington Microware for Apple II / II Plus
Format-][ Word Processing system for 48K Apple II and II
PLUS DOS 3.3 release 1982 by Kensington Microware Ltd.
This is supremely rare, other than some scarce advertising and museum catalog listings this Word Processing System seems very, very obscure. Untested.
Included are 3 Format ][ 5.25" floppy discs, two program discs and utilities. A detailed manual in a three ring binder and a modification cable featuring "mini clips" and a chip which need to be installed within an Apple II or II Plus, described in more detail below, also photos of actual cable installed in an Apple II Plus as well as diagrams.
The user had to preform a manual "keyboard enhancement" inside the Apple II or II Plus housing in question and manually attach two miniature clips to the keyboard electronics outrigger and install a chip into a socket on the board (called the "Games Socket" in the literature) . Photos of this installed in an Apple II Plus are included, unfortunately the machine didn't power on so the software is untested, but the other software that came with this machine was well cared for and stored. the electronic component is also untested for this reason so must be offered AS-IS with no returns accepted.
Please have a look at the photos, with exaggeration may be the only example of the connectors and chip installed on an Apple board / keyboard back end. This may be a museum piece, hurry up and snatch it up before I figure it out. c4
Here's some ad copy about it found on the Internet Archive with a photo of actual ad included above:
