This is a metal artwork inspired by Celebrimbor's Hammer from Lord of The Rings. It's been sand-casted with recycled aluminum (delicious Diet Coke cans, mostly.)
New, not ancient nor other-worldly, it is nevertheless a little primitive, with varying rough spots due to the nature of backyard sand-casting.
But it's awesome! And it feels good just to carry it around. The hammer is about 16" (410 mm) long, and weighs about 1.4 lbs. (620 g).
It is CAST aluminum, not FORGED steel. So, it may not pass all the tests on Forged in Fire. Dropping it on the ground or concrete won't scratch it, but you could probably break it in half with enough force and the proper leverage. It feels solid, it *is* solid, and would crack open an orc skull if you need it to.
It’s unpainted aluminum, but could be painted if you wish. One method is to spray paint it flat black, then wipe off the paint after a few minutes, leaving the black in the deepest grooves and crevices.
