This medicine is an antispasmodic. It fights abnormal and painful contractions of the intestine, bile ducts, urinary tract and uterus.
It is used in the treatment of painful spasms of digestive (spastic colitis), biliary (hepatic colitis), urologic (renal colitis), and gynecologic (painful periods and uterine contractions during pregnancy) origin.

Spasfon tablets are a medicine used to treat spasmodic pain in the intestines, bile ducts, bladder and uterus.

Spasmodic is an adjective that refers to spasm . A muscle is said to be spasmodic when it remains blocked. We talk about spasmodic pain especially in case of stomach ache, in case of violent and uncontrolled contractions (stomach cramps). More generally, spasmodic pain is synonymous with cramps since in both cases it is involuntary painful muscle contractions. These pains can be relieved by taking antispasmodic (or spasmolytic) drugs.

How many spasfon tablets can you take per day?

It is recommended not to exceed the dosage of 6 tablets per day, at the rate of one to two tablets of spasfon per dose, spaced 6 to 8 hours apart. You can take this medication any time of the day, either before or after meals.

What is the active ingredient in spasfon tablets?

The active substance in this nonprescription drug is Phloroglucinol hydrate 80,000 mg corresponding amount in anhydrous phloroglucinol at 62,233 mg, trimethylphloroglucinol 80,000 mg for a coated tablet. 

Excipients: lactose monohydrate, sucrose, polyvinyl acetate, wheat starch, stearic acid, magnesium stearate. Coating: polyvinyl acetate, talc, sucrose, gum arabic, gelatin, titanium dioxide (E 171), erythrosine (E 127), carnauba wax.
