In this listing I am offering the great early 1900’s Commemorative P.O.S. of A. enamel gilt medallion.
Scalloped shaped gilt white metal medallion with striking enamel work and a loop suspension for pendant.
OBVERSE: features The P.O.S. of A. emblem in the center, two rings linked together reading P O of A. The left ring has an open book with the letters F E on white enamel and the right ring has an American flag. Within a stunning sun shape design in black enamel.
REVERSE: Blank.
The P.O.S. of A. promoted patriotism and attention to national issues. The women’s Patriotic Order provided an opportunity for women to support the work of the P.O.S. of A. The women established an orphanage for children of P.O.S. of A. members at Mifflinville, PA in 1905 (dedicated in 1909), which was operated until the 1940’s.
Measurement: Approx. 22 mm or 7/8” in diameter without the loop.
