Wooden folk art from Weir Handmade, Ohio, "Who Me" Cat

Paul Weir, is an American folk artist recognized for his authentic, hand carved fish decoys and folk art wood carvings.
Weir, who lived and worked in Rittman, Ohio, spent many years in the Philippines.

This one of a kind Weir Handmade carved cat is made from tropical softwoods, designed and handcrafted by carvers in the mountains of the Philippines.

They select one tree at a time...
cutting, carving, and hand carrying the wood out of the forest.
Classic tools are used for carving...mallets, chisels, knives,
draw blades...and the finished carvings are dried in a hot box,
heated by the sun, for three to twelve months before they are
painted and finished. No two pieces are alike...each piece has
its own personality (and blemishes).
Paul Weir works directly with the craftspeople who live in the
mountains of north central Luzon...and who have an urgent
need for a source of income to feed and house their families.
No agents or middleman are used...allowing more money to
go directly where it is most needed.

Measures approx. 14" long x 6" tall x 3 1/2" deep.

Would look wonderful in a cat collection, or make a great gift. It would certainly be a great addition to a cat lover's home decor.
