HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW by Ethel Waters with Charles     Samuels, Bantam Books, First Paperback Printing, 1952        SIDNEY POITIER: THE LONG JOURNEY by Carolyn H.       Ewers, Signet Books, First Printing, 1969                                  Condition of both: Near Very Good                                                                                                                                                    Biographies of two Black 20th century pioneers in the world of entertainment.   Ethel Waters made strides for her race on Broadway, in movies and on tv.  Sidney Poitier became the first major Black leading man in films.   SPARROW has spine reading creases, some large flaking and a light crack across it; the front cover has a couple of very short creases and scratches, and there is modest edge/corner wear.  JOURNEY, which has 22 pages of movie stills and other photos,  has 2 cover corner creases (1 very light),  a slight edge tear and small staining.  There is also a bookstore stamp and small price written on first page.  Otherwise, both have straight spines, secure bindings and great interiors.
