  • Busy, busy, busy in the gardens.
Dismantling, adding to, rototilling, grading, moving soil, and , , ,
  • Monday is going be a rainy day and trying to things in place and hopefully I have the timing right. Some of the plants won’t be moved until I know that there will be enough rain or that part of the garden plan will have to wait until next year.
  • Mowing my yard and the neighbors.
  • Spraying the neighbors weeds. I have most of the burdock and thistles under control.

Thursday, started with a sore throat. Later a cold started. I guess I have a summer cold. Nose wouldn’t stop running and the sneezing. I finally purchased some medicine to stop the running nose/ sneezing fits. I guess that put me out Saturday night. Over slept and didn’t get up until 8am Saturday. BUT, it was a good sleep.

Working on a new game phrase.

Bette, you’re overdoing it!

I know you have so much to do, and your conscience won’t let you slack off – but you have to. The very fact that you overslept – oh, golly, you slept in till 8 in the morning – wow! – is a clear indication that your body is telling you to knock it off for a bit.

For sure, you can take the week off from doing WFC. We’ll live without it – and so will you. You’ve been carrying the burden all by yourself for quite a while now.

I’d like to volunteer to alternate weeks with you for a while, if that’s acceptable with you? You’ll just need to tell me how I start a new week’s game, and I’ll be good to go.

My Bookworms reading program is done for the summer, and the next one won’t start until, probably October; my annual newsletter/magazine for my high school is all done till next year, so I’ve got time. (By the way, I keep tracking the obituaries for former classmates, and there seem to be more all the time. Heck, the school closed down in 1957, so the youngest of us are in our mid to late 70’s!)

Working on WFC sounds like fun. Let me know, please.

I’m sure Joyce has the link to the program that counts the number of each letter used, which used to take so much time, and I’ll get it from her.

Take care of yourself, girl. You’re very special to us.

Carolyn, I’m okay.
This morning I was up at 5:30 and didn’t take the medication. I should of. I still have a running nose and sneezing.

Still thinking of a phrase.

Back outside and get more of the irises thinned and relocated to the back by the pine trees.
Everything is starting to fall in place with the gardens. NOW, if that one tree would fall down so that I can burn the little bugger.

Cats had lots of fun outside. Who couldn’t have fun catching mice, chipmunks and frogs and then sleeping in the gardens.

Oh, while mowing, a 2 1/2 foot snake came out of my grass and starting crossing the road. This snake was creepy, that the head was prominently shaped verses the round headed ones.

Posted by cshort0319, Kingston, NY. 10,656 total posts | Posted 25 days ago

So, why did the snake cross the road? Why Hmmmm. to get to the other side!

I’d really like to give hosting the game a try. Honestly. Please?

Carolyn, sounds GREAT. I vote
Bette has been responsible for a loooong time.
I am usually here but I also had the fun of phrase making quite a long time.
Take your turn is fine with me.
Bette can send you via email the initial posts for you to copy and post next game.
For NOW offer a phrase is fine with me.

AND

Bette, take some time off as Carolyn offered to host.
Get over the nasty cold and IF you want to…LOL…work on the gardens. Iknow you will
Please don’t overdo. AND keep your brain exercised.

Last night was a beautiful night in Indiana. Moderate temps and no humidity. Hubby, friends and I went out for dinner and then on to Conner Prairie where a Fleetwood Mac tribute band performed. Yes, I went back in time and was up and dancing almost like back in the day.

Here’s a llink to share what I saw last night

If my vote counts for anything….. I vote for shared duties and time off for good behavior :)

I don’t know if you remember or not but I used to host the scavenger hunt game and although I enjoyed it – it did take up a lot of time and energy and so eventually I shared the duties and was much happier :)

Snakes!!! yuck!!!

A4, B2, C2, D, E5, G2, H3, I3, L, M2, N5, O3, R3, S2, T5, U, W, Y2

Carolyn, I will try to prepare some instructions and you can host the next game.

I still have my cold.

3 groups of kids and their pigs had walked around the hay field. Our county fair is starting and the kids are doing their last minute working with the animals.

Fletcher and a gray cat had a fight out in the soybean field. Had to break them up and get all the cats in the house. I didn’t want Dottie and Blue joining the fight.

and this week I intend to exercise my brain lots.
Love the phrase as Nostalgic is what last night was for me hearing the Fleetwood Mac Mania tribute band. Plus I’ll be prepping for new hostess and her upcoming phrase.

Yes, Selah, I remember when you hosted Scavenger Hunt. I think Carolyn also was part of that weekly game. Those were the good old days.

Now, off to exercise a bit before heading to bed.
Just noticed no makes it harder

Feel better soon, Bette. Take it easy, pleeeease.

There are so many good words, it doesn’t really matter about the p tto much.

Lots of flower words.

Working up to animals and birds.

I’ll share some flower names with you in the morning.

Time for bed.

Lately, for no reason whatsoever, I’ve been getting up at 5 or 6 in the morning, so I get tired earlier than I used to when I read nearly all night.

Up early for me. Love these letters to add fun to
………….

I know what you mean about TONS of good words, Carolyn.
I have set a challenge eliminating many.
My words must all end in ION.
So far at about 250 and starting to struggle a tad.

Speaking of reading, Carolyn, I started a new book series written by David Baldacci.
Modern day
So far I think I like this author after the 11th chapter. We’ll see.

Early morning rising must be contagious today. Up at 3:45 to drive my son to the airport an hour away, fixed two different breakfasts, adjusted a sprinkler head, took the garbage can out to the street, and accompanied Diana as she practiced driving to the first day of the school year. And that was all before 8 am. Now I need to decide between getting some stuff done or taking a nap. Nap might win. :)

Why not nap, Charlotte – you’ve already done a day’s work!

Charlotte, it’s unanimous of those who voted….take a nap

Checking in as I was reading I realized another 30 or so ION words all must end ion
Almost to 300

Frankly, I’m having trouble stopping. So far, all 7 letter or more words. I’m toying with the thought of 8 letter words, but – nah -.

Do you know, the temperature here last night went down into the low 50’s! Daytime was the mid 80’s. That’s an amazing drop!

Yesterday, TV was mean to me.
They ran another marathon on Dead Like Me, second/final season. Had to watch it. The last episode I saw half of it and fell asleep. I have to find my dvd’s and watch that last episode to put that series to bed. LOL

  • During the Dead Like Me marathon, I would quick get a couple of things done outside, so it was a total waste. BUT when I woke up this morning, my back was too stiff. Had a hard time getting to work.
  • It was on and off rain all day today. I was able to get more of the plants relocated. I had to be careful with my hands and feet covered in mud and that is was very slippery. But I got the plants needed to be transplanted so that I can shorten the birch tree garden. Now its getting the ground leveled and the 2 ends of this garden to be seeded. The big garden is next. PLants to be transplanted and the stove to be move. So close to having a lot of the work done for the gardens this year.
  • Next will be getting the windows reframed and working on getting the garage organized.

I’m going to send my list in now. Done, checked, double-checked, alphabetized.

Even got my daughter’s 2 favorite words in: rhubarb and rutabaga. I don’t know why she loves them so much, but she does.

There’s kid’s story the little Bookworms love, called, “There Was An Old lady Who Swallowed a Fly.”

Goes on and on about all the animals she swallowed and every one ends with, “I don’t know why she swallowed a fly. She won’t say why!”

And that’s how I feel about Eileen and rhubarb and rutabaga – I don’t know shy she loves them so much – she won’t say why!

She just does!

Today is Nancy’s Birthday!

Happy Birthday Nancy!

A4, B2, C2, D, E5, G2, H3, I3, L, M2, N5, O3, R3, S2, T5, U, W, Y2

Word lists are due Wednesday night.

Happy Birthday Nancy.

I have a late morning cleaning. I hate those. I feel like I wasted the day starting late in the morning instead of 8am.

Lots of rain and I think the garden I am working on has all the plants transplanted and the ground will be leveled and seeded. I know that there is to be more rain so I am not sure when I will be able to get to finish this project.

Trying to keep up with eBay and GTC (good til cancel) is a pain, but needs to be done. There is still some money that comes from there.

Posted by cshort0319, Kingston, NY. 10,656 total posts | Posted 23 days ago

I hate that GTC, too, Bette. Don’t think I’ll use it again.

Miss seeing Nancy here on a more frequent basis, too.

Psyched up about doing the upcoming Labor Day week WFC! (Doesn’t take a lot to excite me, does it?)
