The listing calculator is not taking in to account the package size. We just sold an item that is going priority. The package size is 16×13×12 which raises the postage rates. The buyer paid $11.28 and the actual postage is $24.00. That is a large amount to loose on a sales. Not sure how to handle larger items here.

My PO considers DIM (or Dimension) of package. Anything over 1 cubic foot (12×12×12) carries a premium There is a place to put in the dimensions (you gotta hunt for it here) to get the accurate price but I do believe that sometime in June of 2019, the prices for DIM are REALLY going to jump up (yes even more than now).
I have been asking for a calculation of packages under USPS Parcel Select of Parcel Ground or Parcel Post (or whatever they call it now) and NOT just Priority FOR YEARS NOW but it FALLS ON DEAF EARS HERE. Seems they would rather work on their Blog. The Auction site has it so it does exist.Shipping costs do make a difference to make or break a sale.
Priority OVER a cubic foot is just too expensive now.

I try to shy away from selling anything big due to the cost of shipping. If I see anything big in my thrift shop hunts I look to see what I can take from it to sell for replacement parts. That works out pretty good for me and I usually make more from selling the smaller parts than I can make for selling the whole item & don’t have the huge shipping cost. Then I just toss the remains of it in the dumpster. It works for me.

When setting the shipping method on an item, there is a dropdown box for the size of the box for Priority Mail – calculated shipping. Are you missing that or are you saying that it is not accurate?

Most of the time we ship priority and we ship all packages as 12×12×8 (no matter what the size) which is the size of a large mailing box from the post office. As far as I know, the rule still stands as far as the post office. As long as the package is not over 84 inches combined length, width and girth they ship according to weight. BUT Ive noticed that IF you put the actual dimensions of the package – the post office WILL charge you for it. The postmaster by us has told us that the software is not operational as of yet and still goes by only weight and zone. (I think they are trying to keep the pace with FeDex as they are MORE dimension oriented than weight). IE. a 12×12×12 package costs the same if its a 6 or a 12 pound package from FeDex. But it IS coming.
