Becoming a Bonanza Top Rated Seller

well considering I cannot use the tracking system for Bonanza – I guess I will have to provide excellent service to my customers without the badge.

There are other issues with Bonanza that need to be addressed first before worrying about who has a badge or not.

I sold for many years on Ebay but then left, due to their constant and frustrating changes. Hope Bonanza is not going to go in that direction — it’s a great site to sell on, so far!!

I dont understand why some are saying they can’t provide tracking because they go thru the USPS….I do also, but you can come back to bonanza and enter that number. I dont think bonanza is saying you have to use their shipping to obtain the tracking #. But glad to hear this, yes other things need to be done, but sellers need to be motivated also to list and sell. I like the idea of a badge, I have been here for quite a few years, hope i get one soon!

Perhaps you should consider addressing the serious lack of sales problem first. I sell 50 items a month on Ebay and I’m lucky to hit one a month on Bonanza. I’m Top Rated on Ebay and I have 100% feedback as well. Had to drop your higher membership program, you were making more $ than me!

Bonanza is Free to sell with much lower fee’s than ebay. ebay has gone downhill….Everyone i know is quitting there. High fees, they want to charge you to sell there, etc etc etc….No thanks, I’ll stay with Bonanza!

for those about not being able to provide tracking – I live in Australia – have been on Bonanza for about 7 years now – and over 1000 sales – am not able to provide tracking for my parcels – Australia Post and other services I use dont offer them.

I don’t sell on Ebay or Amazon – so what they do doesn’t concern me.

I like to provide great customer service too – but there are other tools needed here first for international sellers so we are on an even keel with others.

Pineapple_girl, terreceleste, JeniEmDesigns, thedhtsstore, and NurserySeedlingsCo, after reading the tracking comments there’s a misunderstanding. After your package ships and you mark the order as shipped, the seller “should” take the extra step and type in the tracking number from USPS, etc. it’s an extra step, but it logs the info which you will see in the order record". I believe this is where the misunderstanding is coming from. If you take the extra step it will count toward the badge.

Accelerate, nothing has changed, it’s the extra step sellers should take to log the tracking number in the order record.

Considering I don’t think I make $250 a year even if I get 25 sales, I guess my customers will have to continue to get fast, reliable service with or without a badge. Since I have one for now, I’m thrilled.

This is a great idea, BUUUT, Unfortunatly the tracking rule is not something I can comply with without passing that buck on to my buyers. To ship with tracking costs a few cents less than my primary product(s) (that I ship free, btw) So, tracking would double the cost of said product. So like J7339 said, I will have to continue offering great customer service without the badge.

Recognizing sellers who consistently provide excellent service is a good thing… but NOT recognizing sellers who still consistently provide excellent service because they don’t meet arbitrary criteria is more of an ebay thing than a good thing. And making this an advertised implied ‘endorsement’ is problematic. You are creating two classes of sellers “Top Rated by Bonanza” and by implication “recommended by Bonanza” vs everyone else selling on the site, based on criteria that your sellers have no control over. Suggest you rethink the program. Just because ebay does it, does not mean it’s a good idea. Some of the potential problems: A seller who has dozens or even hundreds of transactions that otherwise meet the criteria but only 24 in the US gets excluded? A seller with 25 US transactions, 25 feedback of which 1 is negative gets excluded while a seller with 25 US transactions and 24 positive and no negative feedback gets the Top Rated Seller Badge? A seller who sells 25 items but 3 don’t ship with tracking but meets all the other criteria gets excluded? A seller with 25 transactions that otherwise meet all the criteria but averages $9.99 per transaction gets excluded? What happens if a seller has 100 transactions that otherwise meet the criteria but noone leaves them feedback… so 0 positive? And on, and on, and on.

I can comply with all but one of those conditions. Sales are very few and far between. Very disappointing since I sell the same items at similar prices on five other marketplaces and sell consistently.

That’s great EXCEPT for the 90% requirement of tracking. For those of us who sell light and flat items that fit into a standard envelope the cost of shipping just went from .48 cents to $1.64 just to get a tracking number, which we will have to pass the extra cost on to the buyer and that makes us on Bonanza less competitive than the rest of the world. Just because eBay does this is no reason for Bonanza to follow suit like a trained monkey. This new 90% criteria is probably buy a lot of us are leaving eBay. Could the same be happening to Bonanza?

Whohaa, it’s the standard in ecommerce to provide tracking. I personally deal with low value/high volume items and WISH I could use a non-tracking stamped envelope for reduced shipping. To compete in the industry we just don’t have that opportunity. Bonanza is actually one of the few marketplaces I know of that will even allow you to ship without valid tracking.

Whohaa, no one can expect to be considered a “top seller” without something as basic as online tracking these days. As such, most marketplaces require it.
If you want the pros of the TRS badge you need to give up the pros of not using tracking. We can’t have it both ways as much as even I’d like it. At least Bonanza allows you the choice which most marketplaces do not.

Regarding everyone with low sales complaints, view your booth stats. Most likely the majority of your traffic comes from advertising if you have it turned on. You MUST use advertising options in order to get traffic/sales. I have mine set to the max 30% commission, adjusted the prices to absorb that cost, and the vast majority of my sales result from it.
Despite Bonanza being it’s own marketplace it appears that there is extremely little activity on the site itself. I have freebies set up and no one has ever claimed one. Nearly every sale (if not every single one?) is a new member brought to my item from a shopping channel that Bonanza advertised it to. I take the 30% fee to sell things rather than standard fees to not sell anything.
So if don’t use the commission-based advertising and you struggle for 25 annual sales (or just dislike the slow sales period), fix it ASAP! This is a service for all seller accounts.

Do you have a way to get the $1.60 w/tracking online? Or just at the counter?
I wasn’t even aware you could go lower than first class mail’s minimum $2.45 cost without losing the tracking. I might consider first class letter in some cases if it’s not strictly over-the-counter.

misskeech, I could see the reason to gamble it as a seller. Even with the high rate of buyer scams out there the $1 savings without tracking would likely come out ahead if your items are low-cost. I wouldn’t try it with $20+ items, but the occasional ~$5 loss wouldn’t matter as much.

3 months ago, the subject of Top Seller Badge comes over with your eBay feedback. It’s more of a hindrance the few times I have search for anything. I only have a couple of sellers that I would do anything listed on my computer favorites. The searches are so bad here that you can find the items you want unless Bonanza puts in a Wild Card for the searches.

I am still fairly new to Bonanza with in the past year. I have good and bad views of Bonanza… I have to refund customers often as I offer customized items and if details are not left in the message box at checkout or they read the production time frames I have no choice but to refund the order, so it seems like I will be penalized for having to refund customers as I can not complete their orders.
I am frustrated as when I print orders from Bonanza all details customers leave for their details do not show up on a printed version of the order so I have to write in the details…. This is very frustrating so I hope Bonanza can find a way to fix that . I still do have a very successful store on Ebay and even with store fees I still make a good profit from Ebay and I do pay the higher fees for advertising here on Bonanza so sales are fairly steady. Shipping fees are high here as bonanza charges a processing fee for you to print a label where Ebay doe not. They say I need to add money to my account for shipping but if it is coming directly out of my checking account for my business I think charging me another fee just to buy shipping is ridiculous…. Maybe some of the things can change to make me a little happier to be a seller on here. Right now just so so and feeling this all out.

I am glad that the criteria for top rated seller is no longer the fact that you are a top rated seller on ebay. There are many on bonanza that have been here since almost the beginning and have worked hard to build this site (including those in Canada, Australia, etc) who cannot always meet some of those criteria but should also be recognized. They worked hard for bonanza.
I am glad to have been recognized as a top rated bonanza seller. I have not sold on ebay since 2009 when I opened a booth here, however, would ebay recognize that I have the top rated seller badge here if I should decide to someday return….I don’t think so because I have not earned it there (at least not in many, many years)…….

What is the timeframe for the Top Rated Seller badge? The only time criteria I see is 90 days. How far back are sales counted? Is it in months, years or since we’ve been selling?

The TRS badge is automatic. I read this, checked my profile and found it already there.

As stated by many here, I also have reservations about this change. Personally, I don’t care about getting the badge – if a buyer wants my item & the price is right, they will buy it (seeing 99.5% FB & Zippy response/handling). What I wonder is will it affect search rankings or not. Another issue is the tracking – one buyer elected to pick up the item, so there is no tracking (thus 6 out of 7 sales have it) but that buyer did leave +FB whilst most do not; how can that be addressed? Also, Delivery Time is a bad rating – I have no control over an inept USPS once it leaves my hands & shipping via Standard will hurt that rating (thus forcing use of Priority). I feel Bonz needs to re-think this and account for situations where good sellers do not meet the bar that is being set for this badge.

That being said, I am happy being here (whatever my sales rate is) than being treated like carp at feebay!

All sounds good except the tracking portion, depending on size and weight it is not feasible as tracking is twice as expensive as just shipping it by standard airmail.

i want you to show me how to sell

Let me start out by saying that everyone is entitled to their opinion, be it positive, negative, or indifferent.
I was somewhat surprised by the amount of negative comments regarding this new program. Sure, there are issue’s that Bonanza has to figure out, but from my experience, it’s not from lack of effort or concern on their part. Issues/problems that need to be corrected often require serious due diligence before they can be corrected completely & accurately. Change takes time, & positive change often takes a little longer. Keep up the great work Bonanza, I appreciate your efforts.
I believe this is a HUGE step in the right direction.

I have been providing good service, no complaints from buyers and item shipped within 24 hours and delivered on time with tracking provided. The difficulty I have is that no one seems inclined to give feedback for the Bonanza purchases. So far, all I have is imported feedback. I have sent reminders but to no avail. Does my imported feedback count for a top rated seller?

Dealing with one e-bay is enough Try coming up with something new. I love this site but because it wasn’t e-bay. All sellers are not the same. Make sure your system tracks scan sheets as shipped items if not any seller using them will meet your standards but you will not know it the same way e-bay does not know it as your system will not show the item as shipped until it reaches the customer and not when it was mailed Ask me how I know this. Stop trying to be e-bay and start trying to be the site you started out as.

I normally sell 200-450 items monthly e bay list 500 items will this work here

All seems fine but the tracking, for light items, tracking isn’t feasible as it will reduce my overall profit since for most of my items I offer free shipping, and tracked packages are double the cost.

Thanks for offering this type of status as a way to thank your sellers. Keep up the good work and try to reward everyone on the site and bring out everything but the ordinary for everyone.

I’ll never achieve TRS on Bonanza. My refund rate is too high only b/c customers do not read my listings before they purchase to see that I cannot ship to certain states due to USDA Federal laws and laws of their States. I’m in agreement with others that Bonanza is trying to copy Ebay and Amazon.

My god I have read all of the 197 responses, some have great points some are nuts. Let me ask some of you this, when I stumble upon your booth how will I know you give great service to your customers? Will I be able to see it somehow? Without some indication perhaps a badge? Let’s all face something right now ebay sucks period, they cater to Chinese sellers and they can do and sell what ever they want period.Most times their price is so low to only gain points or attract buyers with goods they do not normally sell so they can sell their other crap, that is what is killing sales. Amazon is the worst site ever I know this very well, they will make deals with factories buy goods so cheap and sell the goods that YOU are trying to sell themselves and when they sell out that is when yours sell maybe. I used to be on ebay, told them to shove it and moved on to Bonanza and Reverb.com at the same time about 2 years now and yes it has been a bit of a battle for sales but they are coming steady I have sold over 3000 items on Reverb.com and maybe 50 here? I have to look it up, sales here are a steady up clime yes a bit slower but I at least do not have to put up with a platform FULL of Chinese sellers with insane low prices. Bonanza thank you for that.I am however getting to the reason I even started this comment box that no one here even addressed and that is Bonanza MUST make a rule for buyers to include a phone number or Bonanza to reveal it as it is an important and requested part of shipping items especially higher priced items to the USA customs bitch when a phone number is not provided and it even in some cases slows border processing.
Finally a word about tracking, it should and must be provided and I understand the cost of 1 dollar more I only wish, from Canada where I live a tiny .090kg parcel starts at $14.33 only because our postal system is greedy.
Bonanza just letting you know I love it here. Please work on that phone number part.

A Top Rated Seller Badge on Bonanza doesn’t mean much when if it is simply imported from eBay…It needs to be earned on the site for which it is intended.Anyone who believes a Bonanza Top Rated Seller Badge is going to make a difference or is going to be a fast track method to sales may be very disappointed. A Seller badge isn’t going to change the fact that there is no traffic to this site unless a seller brings it and the Bonanza site does nothing to advertise itself, and really isn’t interested in actually building a competitive selling platform as long as it can line its own selfish, greedy pockets by selling services that do not work. At least eBay is a world known household name, well advertised and an earned basic Global Top Rated Seller status gives a 20% discount on fees(which is worthwhile because there are sales) – I’ll take that any day over an accumulated 12,000 worthless tokens and 0 sales on Bonanza. When a seller has hundreds of items listed in their Bonanza booth(900+ to 1400+ at any given time), uses a 19% advertising level and at best that gets a whopping average of 0-2 views per day and the Average TOTAL daily views for that booth is 0-2…on a daily basis, not just now & then but everyday 0-2 views, that is just way too coincidental to be anything but manipulation by this site to restrict/block the listings’exposure & any potential for sales….believe this site does indeed mute sellers that speak out &/or speak negatively about the site.The fact that this site mirrors everything that eBay does is not going to help Bonanza to become a better selling venue.Bonanza will never be anything more than it is right now – Bonanza is what it is…much ado about nothing…

I have Sales in Ebay….and about 7 pages items here in Bonanza….seems if i sell ITEMS at $1.00 and Free Shipping i will probably meet Bonanza critea for Top Rated Seller Badge. All the warm fuzzy of Bonanza and NO SALES. upsetting.

All that sounds really good but my first goal is to just get my feet off the ground I haven’t so much at all on a bonanza but I am still excited about what I am doing this is my first time as a seller on any format and I would like to get more information on just getting my boots together like slideshows and all the little things that I really don’t know about and have tried and field and setting up
