Bonanza is an extraordinary marketplace that empowers more than 30,000 entrepreneurs to maintain their own online business, minus the busywork. These entrepreneurs are passionate enough to have voted us the #1 “Most Recommended" marketplace (over eBay, Amazon, and Etsy) in the biggest survey of online sellers.
How do we foster the happiest customers of any marketplace? By listening to them, giving them the benefit of the doubt, and providing superb service. Our focus on the needs of our community has allowed us to build a unique set of tools aimed at simplifying the ecommerce experience. Bonanza users know that when they report a bug or suggest a feature, we listen fiercely and act accordingly.
Here’s where you come in. This position is the glue between "the customer" and "the code," ensuring that Bonanza continues its legendary commitment to user happiness.
We're looking for a full-time, full-stack Ruby on Rails developer to improve our user experience and make Bonanza customers happier.
You will be at the forefront of our effort to maintain customer satisfaction. We’re excited for you to:
Receive bug reports and identify appropriate fixes
Work in conjunction with Bonanza’s award-winning support team to ensure user needs are addressed
Ensure sellers can seamlessly maintain their inventory
Create opportunities for sellers to enjoy increased traffic and sales
Implement top-voted suggestions at feedback.bonanza.com (not to mention, claim the glory of delighted users)
Assist users of Bonanza’s API to ensure their experience is optimal
Identify areas in which user experience can be improved and work with our team to make it so
Ensure that each user’s signup and checkout processes are executed flawlessly
We strongly prefer that you have some Ruby on Rails experience in a production environment. You’ll be working in the full stack, from the database (MySQL) up to jQuery and HTML/CSS. You should be comfortable responding to real customers, and having the doggedness to track down bugs in order to make an appropriate fix. You should have the empathy to see problems from our customers’ shoes and keep their needs in mind while building solutions. You should have a willingness to give our users and your coworkers the benefit of the doubt, and a vested interest in their success.
An innate sense of simple, effective design will serve you well here, as you'll have chances to improve UI in the course of this role.
The ideal candidate will be able to speak both "geek" and "human," and will approach problems with a "can-do" attitude.
Note: If you're not currently located in the Seattle area, we're open to working remotely with a strong candidate.

It starts with our salaries, which, at the high end, range to levels beyond those offered by the tech titans. More importantly, we provide a working environment where you will virtually never be interrupted by meetings, and where you will be given access to the best hardware available. Because your productivity should never constrained for lack of resources. We also offer a thoughtfully constructed collection of perks that stands apart from our competitors:
Beyond this generous set of perks, our commitment to our employees is that if ever they have ideas on how we can improve our benefits package to better serve our team, we will consider those ideas and try to make them happen when economically possible. That's probably why we keep winning awards like these:
